Manā Road Drive and Hike
September 5, 2020

A few of our members got together in their individual family pods and drove along Manā Road where we stopped at various areas to talk about the history and stories associated with these places. We stopped for lunch at Keanakolu and hiked into the orchard before finding a shady tree to escape the beaming sun.

Educational Walk & Talk
November 10, 2019

When: November 10, 2019 at 9am – 1:30pm
Where: Meet at parking lot just mauka of Anaehoʻomalu Bay, Waikoloa,
South Kohala.

Activities: On this hike we will walk the coastal trail (Ala Kahakai) and the Ala Loa (Kings Trail – a little inland from the coast). With the aid of Historic Maps and Survey notes we will attempt to match traditional place names and boundary markers on the current landscape. While the paths are well marked, the terrain is rocky and uneven, and the weather is expected to be very hot and sunny. Therefore, dress accordingly, bring ample water, and adequate sun protection. Also bring your own lunch for talk-story after the hike.
