Lā Hoʻāla Ala Hele

You are invited to join us on October 19, 2025 for a day to reawaken one of our historic Hawaiian trails in Kona, the Kohanaiki-Kaloko “Trail to Sea Coast.” In 2004 our County Council passed a resolution designating a day in October as Lā Hoʻāla Ala Hele or “Trail Reawaken Day.” Since then, we have been observing this special day in various ways.

On October 19, we plan to restore the rock alignment of the trail portion in the Kauhale I Ke Kula Uka affordable housing project and beautify the trail area by hand-weeding in and around the trail. Many hands will make the work lighter and faster! Your kōkua will be greatly appreciated!

This event is open to all (members and non-members)!
When: October 19, 2025
Time: Meet at 9am at Kauhale I Ke Kula Ula (73-4515 Hina Lani Street, Kailua-Kona)
Bring: Hat, sunscreen, refillable water bottle, gloves, covered shoes, brown bag lunch.

E Mau will provide hand tools, bags for green waste, and cold water.

For questions please call and leave a message at (808) 776-1516 or (808) 315-3757, and we will return your call.
